The salary listed with each position is the base rate for that position. Staff members that meet any of the criteria below will earn an extra $10/week (in addition to the base rate) for each criterion that can be verified. All certifications listed below must be current. The salary cap for counselors is $200/week; the salary cap for program staff is $250/week.
Lifeguard certification
Wilderness First Responder certification
Advanced medical certification (EMT or higher)
Challenge course belayer certification
Food Safety certification
2 completed years of study at a college or university
Counselors-In-Training (C.I.T.) program at Camp Pepin
Returning staff member
Resident Counselor
Salary: $150/week (and up)
Qualifications: High school graduate or 18+ years old
Duties: Serve as a two-person team to lead a cabin group of 10 campers; oversee the health, safety, and welfare of the campers; provide supervision, direction, enthusiasm, and positive reinforcement for the campers; demonstrate patience and positive role-modeling; teach daily skill session activities; compose written communications to campers following their experience.
Assistant Counselor
Salary: $120/week (and up)
Qualifications: Entering Senior year of high school
(or Junior year with successful completion of Camp Pepin’s C.I.T. program)
Duties: Serve as a two-person team to lead a cabin group of 10 campers; oversee the health, safety, and welfare of the campers; provide supervision, direction, enthusiasm, and positive reinforcement for the campers; demonstrate patience and positive role-modeling; teach daily skill session activities; compose written communications to campers following their experience.
Camp Office Assistant
Salary: $180/week (and up)
Qualifications: High School graduate and 19+ years old (or returning staff member and 18+ years old)
Duties: Appropriately handle incoming and outgoing telephone calls, email, and postal mail; collect and organize camp paperwork; assist with outgoing communications to campers and their parents/guardians; assist with camper and staff recognition awards; assist with all facets of the Camp Store; assist with other office-related functions.
Program Director
Salary: $200/week (and up)
Qualifications: High School graduate and 21+ years old
Duties: Assist with planning staff training and staff functions; supervise, evaluate, and motivate counselors; assist with behavior management of campers and staff; supervise and administer summer program events during each week; coordinate lesson plans for each skill session; and conduct routine checks of program areas.
Waterfront Director
Salary: $180/week (and up) + $10 for lifeguard certification
Qualifications: High School graduate, 19+ years old, and current lifeguard certification (or returning staff member, 18+ years old, and current lifeguard certification)
Duties: Establish a safe waterfront and beach area; teach and/or supervise staff and campers in waterfront activities; conduct and evaluate swim skills; conduct waterfront emergency drills; and maintain all waterfront equipment.
Boating Director
Salary: $180/week (and up) + $10 for lifeguard certification
Qualifications: High School graduate, 19+ years old, and current lifeguard certification (or returning staff member, 18+ years old, and current lifeguard certification)
Duties: Establish a safe boating area; teach and/or supervise staff and campers in boating activities (including sailing, canoeing, kayaking, and windsurfing); conduct and evaluate swim skills; and maintain all boating equipment.
Challenge Course Director
Salary: $180/week (and up) + $10 for challenge course certification
Qualifications: High School graduate, 19+ years old, and current challenge course certification
Duties: Supervise all aspects of the Challenge Course, including high ropes, low elements, a zip line, a leap-of-faith pole, and a 30 foot climbing tower; train staff members in challenge course operations and safety; perform daily set-ups and take-downs, inspections, etc..
Target Sports Director
Salary: $180/week (and up)
Qualifications: High School graduate and 19+ years old (or returning staff member and 18+ years old)
Duties: Establish a safe target sports area; teach and/or supervise staff and campers in target sports (including archery and riflery); maintain all target sports equipment.
Trail Director
Salary: $180/week (and up)
Qualifications: High School graduate and 19+ years old (or returning staff member and 18+ years old)
Duties: Prepare equipment and food for outgoing overnight trips and trail camps; drive groups to and from drop-off/pick-up sites; alternately lead outgoing trail camps; train staff members in tripping skills and safety; maintain trips equipment.
Leadership Director
Salary: $180/week (and up)
Qualifications: High School graduate and 19+ years old (or returning staff member and 18+ years old)
Duties: Create an itinerary for the leadership camps (Leaders-In-Training [L.I.T.] and Counselors-In-Training [C.I.T.]); lead activities for the leadership camp participants; work with other program directors to incorporate the challenge course and trips into the leadership camps.
Arts & Crafts Director
Salary: $180/week (and up)
Qualifications: High School graduate and 19+ years old (or returning staff member and 18+ years old)
Duties: Prepare equipment for craft activities; lead Arts & Crafts sessions; train staff members in craft skills and safety; maintain craft equipment.
Food Service Director
Salary: $9.00/hour (and up) + $10.00/week for food safety certification
Qualifications: High School graduate, 21+ years old, and current food safety certification
Duties: Supervise all aspects of the camp's meal service; plan, order, and prepare nutritious daily and weekly menus; and supervise food service and dining hall assistants.
Food Service Assistant
Salary: $8.00/hour (and up)
Qualifications: High School graduate and 18+ years old
Duties: Assist the Food Service Director with all aspects of the camp's meal service; plan and prepare nutritious daily and weekly menus; and supervise dining hall assistants.
Dining Hall Assistant
Salary: $6.00/hour (and up)
Qualifications: Entering Junior year of high school or 16+ years old
Duties: Run the dish machine, assist with cleaning the kitchen and dining hall, and assist with dining hall set-up prior to meals.
